Blackpink's MV 'How You Like That' and YG Entertainment are under controversy for the "disrespectful" use of Indian God Ganesha.

In the MV, during one of Lisa’s solo scenes, she can be seen seated on a throne.

Upon closer inspection, Indian fans saw that there was a statue of the Hindu Deity Ganesha next to her that was "placed" on the floor.

In the Hindu culture, Ganesha is one of the most important deities worshipped. He is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the god of intellect and wisdom. -wikipedia

The criticisms made were :

  1. The god Ganesha was "placed" on the floor. This was seen to be totally disrespectful to the deity. Hindus believe that the statue of gods should always be placed on high surfaces and never on the floor.

  2. Lisa was wearing shoes near the idol. This was also seen as further disrespect as shoes are strictly not allowed near statues, temples, and so on.

  3. The deity was used as a prop in the MV. Many fans think the group using Hinduism as an aesthetic.

However, some fans believe that the scene was not disrespecting Indian culture as Ganesha (Phra Phikanet) is also worshipped in Thailand. In addition, due to the camera angle, it may look as if the god is on the floor.

But, we have no means of knowing, unless YG Entertainment make an announcement.

Indian fans have already began trending #Ganesha and #YGapologise.

The official fanbase of Blinks in India has assured that they have dropped emails and trying to reach out to the company for a statement.

We hope that fans do not make further speculations as the camera doesn't always tell the truth.
